Host families needed for exchange students
The Council on International Educational Exchange is seeking Big Island host families for more than a dozen students who plan to attend school here.
Students come from all over the globe, and from Europe and China in particular, according to Jada Rufo, a local coordinator for the CIEE.
The council prefers families with children, but will also consider single parents and same-sex couples. In exchange for providing a home for visiting students, host families are treated to a different perspective on their own country and in some cases friendships form and last a lifetime.
The Council on International Educational Exchange is looking for families to host students for five- to 10-month commitments. While some language barriers may be encountered, students have at least a basic grasp of English.
Those interested in hosting exchange students can contact Rufo at 854-5567 or email@example.com.
